About the event
A open talk with Lorie Solis and Arantxa Joseph.
All are invited to this series of talks around the southwestern Algarve to learn about Sexological Bodywork, Somatic Sexology and meet your two local practitioners.
Our Professional organisation, the Association of Certified Sexological Bodyworkers says:
"Sexological Bodyworkers are somatic sex educators who use a client-centred approach to empower, educate, and bring attention to the felt experience through movement, breath, touch, sound, and placement of awareness. This approach facilitates the ability to change limiting habits, unwind and release what is no longer supportive, re-sensitise the body, and create a more expansive erotic state that integrates both body and mind".
At this open community talk, we will cover:
- The history and scope of this modality
- What physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs this practice might address
- What sessions might typically look like
- The latest science behind what we do
- How this modality compares and/or is related to other healing modalities and sexual healing practices
- Our Code of Ethics and hygiene protocols
- And more about the two practitioners: our courses of study, our specialisations, our work-related passions, etc
There will also be time for open questions and answers, requesting private pre-session consultations and to book sessions.
We are grateful for the opportunity to share more about this work that we are both so passionate about, to meet and see all who come and to be in service to our communities for healing and empowerment through deeper embodiment!
See you soon!

Lorie Solis
I am a Certified Somatic Sexologist, herbalist, scar tissue remediation practitioner, artist, embodiment activist, spiritual ecologist, academic and gardener. I am Afro-Caribbean-Apache-Chicana as well as a mother, wife, daughter, friend, sister and future ancestor.
I work with women, womxn, couples of all genders and orientations and groups to grieve, celebrate, inquire, heal and evolve as we reclaim our embodied wisdoms and practices in connection to ourselves, each other and our living Mother Earth.
I work, play and pray that my practice is ever more decolonized, highly trauma-informed, consent and boundaries based, LGBTQAI enthused, anti-racist, ancestral and rooted in righteous love and liberation for all.
Arantxa Joseph
I am of African-Caribbean and Spanish descent, born and raised in London, UK and have been living in Portugal for the last 20 years. I am a dancer, singer and performing artist, mum of 3 and have been working in the artistic field most of my professional life.
Currently, I am training to become a professional Sexological Bodyworker and Somatic Sex Educator and have been drawn to this work because of the ethical integrity and solid ground it provides as we dive into the most vulnerable places within ours intimate selves.
I believe that all teenagers should have all the available empowering tools necessary for making their own conscious choices about their bodies, their sexuality and their lives. Tools that continue to be inaccessible in the capitalist mainstream global culture we live in. I also strongly believe that no matter our age, it is never to late to claim our birth right to pleasure and benefit from the profound transformation and healing that comes along with it.
